- Designed by the renowned American optical designer Thomas Back, manufactured by APM, and produced by Berliner Glas in Germany, the TMB Supermonocentric eyepiece is a legendary creation.
- It uses a three‑element cemented design with only two air‑to‑glass surfaces, dramatically increasing contrast. This makes it one of the pinnacle eyepieces for planetary, lunar, and double‑star observing. As long as the field of view is sufficient, its performance on deep‑sky objects also surpasses many wide‑angle eyepieces made of multiple lens groups, making faint objects easier to detect against the sky background.
- The eyepiece has been lightly used and is in excellent condition, complete with its original box.

TMB Supermonocentric
For more than twenty years since its release, the three‑element design—with only two air‑to‑glass interfaces in the entire eyepiece—has delivered exceptional on‑axis sharpness and contrast. It has long been regarded, both domestically and internationally, as one of the ultimate eyepieces for lunar and planetary observation.
Because it is discontinued and extremely hard to find, second‑hand prices typically reach several hundred US dollars. Our director deliberately collected two full sets, ranging from 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21 mm Supermonocentrics to the 25 mm Aspheric Ortho, making them ideal for binoviewing.
Many advanced lunar and planetary observers use binoviewers, and for short focal lengths they often increase magnification in 1 mm to extract the maximum possible detail allowed by the seeing conditions and target contrast at that moment.
